OB Picture

I choose this picture for my blog because it shows the oppression that old Americans face. In this country as we get we are able to retire and live comfortably. Instead when they grow old they have continue to work because they are not offered the benefits of growing old and working for company and not getting benefits. The picture shows the oppression by a showing a old man carrying a heavy load. The picture is a symbolic of the burden that they have to carry.

Mopa Writing

The picture that i choose was the picture of the cave with the tree growing out of it. So after this sentence the story begins.

I have been in this cave for three days now. My food source is running low so i will have to leave soon then i thought. I first came to this cave to escape the world that i was living in. I choose the cave for two reasons. The first reason the cave seemed isolated for the rest of the world and even form mother nature it seemed to be the perfect place to get away. The second reason is that there was a tree growing out of the cave so it was perfect to get in and out of. It was hard for me to leave the cave and go back to world the view form the cave was unlike any other i had seen before. So on my last day i took a picture form where i was.

Gunman

In Colorado there was a shooting at a church and at a youth center. The shooter was a man named Matthew Murry and he was killed by self-inflected gun wounds. Matthew killed his two sisters and injured his father and was later taken out by a church security guard. The police are still trying to find a motive behind the killing but the note left by the gunman leads to many theory's. One of the theory's is a that he used some of the messages of the Columbine kids motive.

Golden Compass

The movie The Golden Compass has sparked wide spread talk among those who believe and those who don't. The ones who believe are saying that the Golden Compass is book promoting atheist views. The atheist are saying that the move should be played and if you dont want your kids to see then dont take them .

The Debate

In the situation that was described I would get up and leave the man. My reason for leaving the man is because am still young and have lots to learn and experience. Staying in the hospital would take up my time for a man who I don’t know don’t know why he is the situation and how long he will live after my stay. He is asking me to leave my life as it and wait for nine months as he recovers I would leave. In my life am not satisfied and don’t have the time for that.

Flying Dog

Five minutes before the accident Bob would have been fine and on his way to America. Instead he decided to save a dog who's life was about to end. Bob ran to the dogs safety only to forget his own and get hit by a speeding a truck. Bob efforts were unsuccessful and the dog was killed along with him. If Bob would have got in the car and went to the airport like he should have the dogs life could have been saved and he would have gotten his vision fixed in the United States instead he lies dead in the road with a dog.

The cost of the war

The war in Iraq has not only cost the United States many deaths and a loss foreign support.
The war is also costing our country 1.6 trillion of dollars and the cost could be rising to 3.5 trillion dollars by 2017. The impact is felt by many Americans and the damage of cost the war will be carried on for many generations. Americans are feeling the cost of the war through the high oil prices the lack of funding for veterans. The cost of the war has become a pink elephant in a room and needs to be stopped by pulling out our troops and focusing the money on internal issues. The 1.6 trillion dollars that spend the on the war could be used on reforming the education system which is in much need of a tune up or reforming the prison system. Before we can do this we need to pull out our troops.

Huck Finn

Huck Finn Reflection

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has been the topic of discussion for many schools due the content in the book. It has been banned from many schools because of the use of the N-word and it advocates slavery. Because of this many people think that Mark Twain was a raciest but that theory is wrong because Mark Twain was clearly not a racist he voices his opinion on slavery through Jim. Through the character Jim Mark Twain expresses his opinion on the slave trade and slavery and how it is immoral.

In chapter eight is the first chapter after Huck's disappearance that Jim is reintroduced in the book. In this chapter Jim talks about how Miss. Watson wants to sell him to New Orleans for eight hundred dollars. This is the reason that Jim runs away because if she sells him to New Orleans he will be separated form his family. In this chapter it talks about the issue that during the time of slavery many black families were separated just so that the owner could make a profit. Mark Twain thoughts on the matter are expressed through Jim’s actions. Since Jim runs away twain was saying that it’s wrong for people to separate other people and that were all human beings in the end. The slave trade affected many people not just the ones that were sold. This isn’t the only part of the book where twain express his feelings about slavery.

In chapter twenty-three of the book Jim express deep emotion to Huck on the raft about his family and the errors he made as a father. This is another great example of how Mark Twain feels about slavery. This chapter adds to more character to Jim. It shows even though the white has treated him badly he still is able to forgive those who treated him badly. In the chapter twain was explaining how Jim is a human and the inhuman image that was given to blacks is wrong.

The last chapter of Huck Finn Mark twain gives his final message about his thoughts on slavery when Jim is final freed after he almost was hanged by an angry mob. Mark twain’s thought on the matter is that it is ridicules to treat anyone has though they were a piece of property. The idea they were going to hang a man just because he was someone property and ran away is ridicules that they didn’t even view him as an equal until the some papers said he was free.

Even though Huck Finn has been banned form many schools because the ideas presented in the book aren’t clear doesn’t mean that Mark Twain was a racist. He expressed his ideas through the character Jim and the character Huck. Just because Mark Twain doesn’t express his ideas clearly in the book doesn’t mean the examples of racism he uses are his ideals.
