My Architect Reflection

My Architect was a confusing movie to follow in a classroom environment. I didn’t really like any of the characters including the main character. For instance I don’t really see the point in this movie at all. It’s not my father and even if it was my father I wouldn’t feel the need to make movie about his life. For a 110 minute long movie it was boring and long and the interviews were not very interesting. I will admit some of the buildings he designed were interesting. I thought that it was good for the him to find about his father and see his father’s designs. I felt that the movie was not necessary for viewers I mean I could careless about his personal life. I will admit it was funny how his father tragically died. I mean having a heart attack in a public bathroom at Penn State. I mean how often that does that happen. I was a too big fan of the movie but am sure their people who got a bigger message form the movie. We didn't finish the movie but form what I did see I could tell its one of those movies that in the end he learns to forgive his father about leaving him and his mother all alone for so many years. I don’t know how to fill a five hundred words but all I will say is that I don’t find this to be a great movie topic.

Guns, Germs, and Steel Book Report

The book I read is Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond. The book was about how some civilization's were able to succeeded and why others are still using rocks and sticks. In the book is main augment for his thesis was comparing the islands of New Guinea and how they have not moved forward. He looked at how European had the means to expand so therefore gained huge advantages over other people. For example since they were able to tame the horse they did not need as many hunters and so people were able to farm and tame other animals like the pig. In doing so they were able to gain immunity form virus that can spread form animal to human. Unlike the people of New Guinea who lived in a jungle environment and aren't able to farm as much so they depend on hunting and don't have spare time like the Europeans did to invent or tame animals. Trough out the book he list examples like what would happen if the people of Africa tamed the wild zebra. The book was an enjoyable read and I recommend it to anyone who has taken an interest in the subject.

Chavez Crazy Again

Chavez the president of Venezuela said in a statement earlier that the U.S was spying on the government in a while on a anti-drug mission. Chavez claims that the U.S was spying on the government and testing the reaction that Venezuela would give. This event has worsened the tensions between U.S and Venezuela. He claims that the U.S is just trying to find reasons to put Venezuela on the U.S terror list. In my personal opinion I find this to be an attempt for Chavez to try and win back his people. Venezuela isnt very happy with Chavez and it seems like an desperate plea.

Technology in Schools

Technology can be useful in a classroom environment if used correctly. It all comes down is the internet being used to supplement the teachers lesson or is going to be used in place of the teacher. Not only is the teacher an important part of the equation but so is the student. If a student is not interested in the lesson then that student won’t pay attention regardless if the lesson is done with or without a computer. I think before we look for technology to help fix the education system in the U.S we would too look at the content of what’s being taught and if the school is fully functional. Before we start updating every classroom with the newest laptop how about updating the school and giving teachers the actual supplies they so desperately need. Technology has its place in public education but first we should look how the system is run. If public schools can barely afford to keep programs like art and music in school how are they supposed to keep up running an effective media lab. Which leads back to my point technology can be used effetely in schools but they should not be used as a solution to solve America’s failing education system.

War Funding Blocked

The senete blocked a bill today that would provide 163 billion dollers to help fund the wars in Iraq and Afaghanstan. The bill was blocked by 132 republicans who voted present not wanting to see like they were opeanly agasint the war. The bill would provide funding for the wars up until spring. Republicans were angred because the democrats didn't get the bill enghun time to go over proper preducers. I think that the bill should not be passed because this war has draged on for far too long and its time congrees put his foot down and said no to this war.

Clockers

The book that I read is called Clockers by Richard Price. The book is one of the best books that I have ever read. After reading the book I couldn't find anything wrong with the plot or the characters. The characters in the had great plot development and evolved nicely with the story. The plot of the book was about a drug dealer named Strike and his life in a project in New Jersey. The deals with a murder and deals with Strike and his brother and two homicide cops. The book deals with life in a the projects in the eyes of the drug dealers and the cops. The book is beautifully written and leads to many conclusions through out the book. I would recommend the book to anyone who has considered reading this book or any of Richard Price's other books.
